About Us
Your vision for discovery is our mission.
With reliable, turnkey solutions and a team dedicated to your success, we’re with you every step of the way.
Founded in 2006, PhenoSys is a Berlin-based technology and service company specializing in solutions for animal brain research and behavioral phenotyping. Our multicultural R&D team brings together diverse expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, computer science, and behavioral biology to drive innovation.
Our product portfolio offers advanced solutions, including the Mini2P, a miniature 2-Photon microscope for high-resolution, multi-plane calcium imaging in freely moving mice. Beyond imaging, our portfolio extends to comprehensive behavioral analysis—offering VR setups for in-vivo recording, automated systems for visual acuity testing, and RFID based animal monitoring and tracking.
Comprehensive Support, From Start to Finish
Our commitment to customer support extends beyond the sale. We provide email and video conferencing support at every stage, offering help with everything from experimental design to technical questions. Additionally, we assist with hardware configuration, software development, and ongoing support to ensure your research needs are met. On-site training and guidance is available upon request.
Our dedication to continous innovation ensures researchers have the systems and support needed to gain deeper insights into brain function and behavior.
Collaborative Approach
We believe in the power of collaboration. We work closely with our customers and researchers, and we actively seek synergies with complementary corporate partners. By fostering these meaningful partnerships, we continuously innovate and refine our solutions to meet the evolving needs of the scientific community. Our commitment is to push the boundaries of possibility, revolutionize research methodologies, and advance scientific discovery through technology-driven solutions.
Guided by Expertise
PhenoSys benefits from the leadership of our CEO, Prof. York Winter, who is also a distinguished figure in the academic and research communities. He holds a position as chair in cognitive neurobiology at Humboldt University in Berlin and leads the Berlin Mouse Clinic for Neurology and Psychiatry, which is associated with the Centre of Excellence “NeuroCure” at the Charité Medical School in Berlin. This deep connection to leading research institutions further strengthens our dedication to advancing neuroscience.
Ethical Approach to Animal Testing
We are proud to be a member of the Translational Digital Biomarker Initiative within the 3R Collaborative. This membership reflects our commitment to advancing ethical and innovative research practices by supporting the principles of Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement in animal research. Through our participation, we contribute to the development and implementation of cutting-edge digital biomarkers that enhance translational research while promoting more humane science.
